Juxta Digital Content Management Powers Carnegie Council Website
New York, Wednesday, April 23, 2003 –
Juxta Digital, a new-media consultancy in New York, announces that its Content Management System, Synopsa, is behind the newly re-launched website for the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs (http://www.cceia.org). The site offers visitors a wealth of information on international human rights, ethics, global justice, and the environment, a searchable media library, and links to an e-commerce area for purchasing monographs. Behind the scenes is an easy-to-use administrative interface that lets Carnegie Council members quickly add new pages and content, change page layouts, update products, and email registered users. In the fall of 2002, the Carnegie Council's website had grown to be a large collection of HTML pages that had become difficult to manage and update. They needed a system that would let them easily update new content and could integrate with e-commerce and email. Juxta Digital was chosen to provide the system, which went live in January. Within the first week of launch, the Council was able to publish over 800 pages of new content for their site, and is already saving substantial mailing costs by allowing users to purchase and download PDF copies of their publications.
Juxta Digital has been developing databases to manage web content for six years. Juxta's Synopsa system includes a media library for entering files of all types, a template manager for updating design templates, and a page manager for creating new web pages. Clients are provided with a point-and-click visual interface to update content, create articles, upload graphics, add and order links and navigation. In order to help keep the site constantly fresh, content can be managed through go-live dates and expiration dates that automatically publish new content and remove old content.
In providing the system for Carnegie Council, Juxta worked with Carnegie’s team of marketing and design professionals to customize the system for their templates and assist with additional design and development tasks, such as integrating the online calendar and newsletter subscription database with their in-house contact database. Says Juxta's Michael Sutula, We've had a great time working with the Carnegie Council and helping them keep in touch with their public. They are a wonderful organization that deserves to be widely seen.
Juxta is continuing to market Synopsa to new clients interested in a powerful, affordable tool for managing their web publishing process.
