Juxta Digital Revamps Poets.org Website -- New Site Wins Praise

New York, Thursday, August 25, 2005 –

Juxta Digital, a new-media consultancy specializing in publishing, education, corporate communications, entertainment and non-profits, announced today the re-launch of the new and improved Poets.org, the poetry resource website of the Academy of American Poets (http://www.poets.org).

Juxta Digital has been working with the Academy of American Poets for the past seven years, and produced their previous website. Poets.org is already the most highly trafficked non-profit poetry site on the Web, according to Alexa.com. The new site, which has been live since June, combines Juxta’s Synopsa Web content management system with a design courtesy of Rudder Finn, and offers several new specialty features developed by Juxta, including a poetry, author, and first-line browse of poems; an improved audio player; drop-down navigation menus; an e-commerce shopping cart; a searchable event catalog; and an active discussion forum.

The re-launched Poets site has already won praise and admiration from poets, educators, and the Academy’s board members:

"...The site looks fantastic. It has so much more depth and you get an immediate sense - without being overwhelmed - of the wealth of information at your fingertips. The move to fly-out navigation menus at the top seems to have made all the difference.... It seems like you've found an ideal fusion of helping visitors find what they're searching for quickly, and yet still offering those delightful opportunities to get lost."

"I like it a LOT. I think it does a great job of laying out the different types of information y'all provide in a very accessible way while leaving lots of room for random exploration, and I like how you integrated book buying options into the profile pages without being disruptive."

"...I have to say I'm blown away. The first thing I've done is sign up for a membership which I've never done before. This is too good a resource and I really want to support it in any way I can."

"In brief... - what a thrilling set of improvements to the website! I love it all..."

The improved site has also drawn the notice of the editors at Yahoo!, who designated it a "Yahoo Pick" in July, writing, "Do yourself a favor and peruse the revamped web site from the Academy of American Poets."
